In other words, they have even less of an excuse not to reply back to comments, but they are still stuck in 2020 when engagement didn’t mean anything on Medium.

Ahhh, this point. When I was a 100% reader, I didn't mind if I read from authors who published and left.
Maybe they write for that kind of readers.
