Here Is the Right Way to Reciprocity (Give Only 1 and Get 10)

Most people misunderstood the reciprocity.

Reciprocity.

It’s a word that’s often misused.

Most people give only 1 and want 10.

They give, then ask, ask, ask, ask, and ask.

Life doesn’t work that way.

People who win the reciprocity game know the difference between soliciting, reciprocity, and leveraged reciprocity.

Before learning the right way, learn the wrong way first.

This story still pisses me off to this day.

Last Christmas, a random guy put a shirt pin in my hand.

At first, I thought it was free.

Then, he asked for $5.

Don’t laugh.

This is how most people play the reciprocity game:

they give dog sh*t and then ask for gold in return.

This is not reciprocity — it’s soliciting wrapped in a guise of reciprocity.

How do we practice reciprocity the right way?

James Clear is a great example.
