I do agree with you. Great writing takes a lot of practice.
And yeah, I wouldn’t want a mediocre doctor either—I’m afraid of death. Lol.
Now, back to writing. Simple doesn’t necessarily mean bad. It should fit the context and the audience, right?
You can't use simple language to write a legal document, and you can't fill Dr. Seuss books with jargon.
Lately, I’ve gotten some flak from people saying my work is crap because I don’t use fancy words or that I’m not creative enough.
But I don’t attack people for that. I don’t take it personally.
Instead, I challenge the concept.
There are always going to be people out there who judge and criticize others' work just because it doesn’t fit what they learned in their literature degrees.
I just can’t stand that idea.
Let’s get back to the practice. It’s hard for someone without a degree to start if they get attacked on their first day of writing.
And forget about practicing if they quit.
