Fancy productivity tips never help you.

In fact, they can even hold you back.

The best productivity tips should be simple.

Have you heard of Parkinson’s Law?

The idea is straightforward: work expands to fill the time available for its completion.

Want to speed up your writing?

Set a deadline.

Write.

Check the results.

That’s it.

Deadlines are an underrated productivity tool.

They force you to finish your task within the time you set.

You could set unrealistic goals like “writing 1,000 words in 3 minutes.”

But how do you set a realistic deadline?

The answer isn’t from reading more writing tips — it’s through experimentation.

I once challenged myself to write 60 articles in 10 days.

I failed. I only got 34 done.

But that failure taught me something important:

It showed me my actual writing speed, which is more valuable than any advice you’ll find in a blog post.
