Viewing Everything as a Zero-Sum Game Is a Loser’s Mindset

Do this instead

There are two types of people:

  1. People who think the world is a zero-sum game.
  2. People who think the world is a positive-sum game.

How do you spot them?

The first will do anything to push others down.

The latter will do anything to lift others up.

When people think the world is zero-sum, they feel that other people’s success = their loss.

This leads to irrational actions:

  • jealousy
  • trying to tear others down
  • and starting competition.

Life, unlike sports, isn’t about competing.

When we start to compete, it becomes a lose-lose game.

That’s why people who view everything as zero-sum have a losing mindset.

But when you see the world as a positive-sum game, you stop focusing on competition.

Instead, you look for collaboration.

When you collaborate effectively, 1+1 = 3.

That’s why people who view the world as zero-sum have a losing mindset.
