Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a sea of advice?

Everything seems to conflict with itself.

  • “Just write” vs. “Read a zillion writing tips”
  • “Write every day” vs. “Take breaks to avoid burnout”
  • “Niche” vs. “No niche”

More advice creates more direction, and more direction leaves you lost.

Reading too much advice is like drinking non-stop.

It overwhelms you.

I’ve been there too — I drowned myself in writing tips, thinking it would help. But the reality is, it didn’t.

Then I zoomed out.

Instead of focusing on how to write, I focused on how to learn to write.

But studying how to learn to write isn’t enough.

I zoomed out again, this time asking, “How do I learn to learn?

Then I stumbled upon the 4 stages of skill acquisition:

  1. You suck at writing because you don’t know what you don’t know.
  2. You suck at writing, but you don’t know what you don’t know.
  3. You’re good at writing, and you know…
