You Don’t Have to Be a Superstar to Make People Like You.
If You Want People to Like You, This Is the Skill You Need
Ann never comes with an empty hand.
This is the slogan I give for Ann, a friend of my wife.
Every time my wife and I meet her, she always gives me some little cute things.
Sure, everyone likes her.
She gives without any hidden agenda. And that’s her superpower.
No one loves a taker.
Everyone loves a giver.
But most people are too selfish.
They want to get, get, get, and get.
What they do is ask, ask, and ask.
If you want people to love you, learn to give more than you ask.
Alex Hormozi once said the golden ratio between giving and asking is 4:1.
Also, learn how to give to the right people.
Because givers always give to the wrong hands.
And giving to takers can cost you your kidney.
The most toxic people aren’t the needy people who only ask from you.
It’s the needy ones who know how to use reciprocity.
They will give you something once and ask for 1,000x in return.
If you refuse, they will bring anything to make you feel guilty for taking even a small crumb of a biscuit from them.
If you stay with that kind of person, leaving them is your best decision.
Thank me later.
Let’s get back to giving.
As creators, there are a million ways to ‘give’.
- Share your lessons
- Share your advice
- Share your resources
- Share your opinions
- Share your empathy.
- Share your dog picture.
As long as it entertains, educates, and inspires people, that’s all giving.
Sure, it doesn’t mean you have to give it all away for ‘free’.
Because free doesn’t mean it’s valuable, and value doesn’t mean it’s free.
If you provide more value than the cost, it’s acceptable.
Once you give enough, you will get more than you imagine.
